Pot-luck dinner?

Anyone got any good recipes for taking along to a pot-luck meal? I've to bring something random, for six-ish people...

Does it need to be a main?
Something like chilli con carne would work... or how about a curry, there are many on mum's site, one of the most popular is Chickpea curry if you want to go veggie.
Or how about pudd... I can recommend banoffee pie as a no-cooking recipe.

Soda bread is often surprising handy at these things, and easy to transport.

ephemera's banana bread/cake is also v yummy, easy to carry, and vegan, which sometimes helps with large groups.

Ah yes, Heather's soda bread recipe is excellent, here's a link:

For banana cake, here's a fantastically simple recipe but not vegan:

For the banoffee pie I made recently for dinner at Mark and Martine's:
Bottom layer = half crushed digestives, half crushed ginger biscuits and enough melted butter just to hold it together a bit. To crush put them into airtight plastic bag and beat with heavy object. Very therapeutic.
On top of this I spread a jar of Bonne Maman Lait de Confiture (essentially, ready made caramel sauce) which Iheated in microwave for few secs to make it easier to pour. Then sliced nanas over top. Then whipped double cream with tiny bit of regular caster sugar thrown in whilst whipping. Sprinkly choc powder over top if want.
