Ugh.

I appear to be suffering from Holiday Lag. I knew it was going to be a bit of a killer when I woke up at ten o'clock on Sunday, finally dragged myself out of bed at eleven, and then realised that on Monday I'd have to be up four hours earlier, and moving significantly faster.

Bleh.

Also, Iain Banks's Transition being quite hard to put down of an evening isn't helping. But at least I'm reading again. Finished Chris Fowler's latest, and Mark Gatiss's The Vesuvius Club (a fine Edwardian romp) while I was in the Lake District.

In other literary news, I just ordered the new generation 3G Kindle. Thanks to ruthj for the recommendation in general, and on the 3G in particular. I think you're right, the 3G will definitely be worth the extra £40. (I'm not so sure about Amazon's leather case being worth the extra £30...) I'm always rubbish about choosing which books I take on holiday, often taking far more than I can read just so I have some choice, plus I already have too damn many books for my tiny flat. Hopefully the Kindle will help with that.

I have been very quiet here, mostly because I have been writing either more specific stuff (and mostly quite dull I'm-just -logging-this-to-keep-myself-going stuff) about jogging and meditation and stuff elsewhere. Plus, having restarted my Morning Pages, a half hour of my time in the mornings that I might have spent LJing has been sucked up by that. I'd hoped that more stuff from the Morning Pages would be shareable, but it hasn't really turned out like that.

I may need to do that thing where I figure out what to concentrate on for a while again. One thing I need to concentrate on will be the upcoming Bristol Half Marathon, which I've foolishly entered. That's on 5th September, and will be fine if it's a good day where I've had plenty of sleep and am in the mood for running and the weather's right, but might be a bit of a bugger otherwise. Hmm.

An experienced runner told me yesterday that the adrenaline would carry me through. I'm not entirely convinced of that; I've never really associated running with adrenaline. But Adam runs a lot faster than I do. Maybe he speeds himself up by imagining a bear chasing him, or something. Personally, I just plod along putting one foot in front of the other, and I generally find it calming rather than exciting...

Anyway. This is an instead-of-the-Morning-Pages LJ post, and maybe that's something I'll do occasionally from here on in. Seems like an idea...
