It's just as well I've got a three-day weekend about to start, because I've only managed about 1200 words this evening. It's been a long week, and a crap day at work, and I'm really not in the mood, so I'm going to try getting some decent sleep and ploughing on in the morning. I at least kept going until I'd broken 37,000 words, so there's only 13,000 to go. Ho hum.

Favourite bit of the evening (the standard wasn't high...):

“Yeah!” said Nez, his eyes lighting up. “We might need to follow him, or something. Maybe there’ll be a chase!” He started the Capri.
“Nez, three things. Firstly, you’re not on TV. Secondly, this isn’t the 1970s. Thirdly, if there is a chase, we’d probably be better off walking. I mean, if the chase lasts more than ten minutes, we’ll have to ask him to pull over and hang on for a bit while you fill up your radiator.”

Mmmm... is it still too late to start?! ;)

Heh. Apparently not -- there are, by all accounts, plenty of people every year who reach week four on a thousand words and still manage to get the last 49,000 done by the end of the month! Mind you, we may be talking about people without day jobs :)

*Makes Matt a cup of tea*

Why, thank you. Make mine a green tea, please. It's what I'm trying to wean myself back onto after the overdose of coffee-delivered caffeine I've been suffering from so far this month :)

Five hundred words done so far today. The plan is to do another thousand before lunch, then do some form of music- or film-based chilling out for the afternoon, then do another 1500 words this evening. Repeat for three days, and I should be ahead on the wordcount, rather than behind, which will be a nice change.

Today it seems like a realistic plan. We'll have to see what the rest of the weekend brings, though.
